Abby Mixon - Multiple NRHA/NRCHA Open Futurity and Derby Finalist!

It all started when…

Being the daughter of NRHA profession Don Boyd, Abby grew up in the Reining horse world. She started showing at the age of 8 in the Youth Reining and made the Top Ten in the Youth 13 and Under and the 14-18 in the NRHA World Standings multiple times. At age 15, she got her first Futurity horse and won the 2001 Congress Non-Pro and Limited Non-Pro Futurity. She also won Multiple Futurities and Derbies as a Non-Pro and became the Novice Horse Non-Pro Reserve World Champion in 2003.

In 2005, she turned in her Non-Pro card and became a Professional Trainer. From 2005-2007, she worked for Million Dollar Rider Craig Schmersal and in 2007, she worked for Duane Hicks where she guided Spooks Gotta Gun to the 2007 APHA Jr Reining World Championship. Abby has acquired LTE of $237,000, and has been a multiple Futurity and Derby Finalist.

In 2008, Abby began working for Jon and Norma Sather with her husband Jeff and was the head trainer their for 8 years. At Winfield Farms she had the honor of training and showing their stud Julgun. The two have been Multiple Futurity and Derby finalists. They also have won the 2009 Tulsa Level 1 Futurity, the 2009 SWRHA Limited Open Futurity,and the 2010 NRBC Intermediate Open Derby Championship. Abby and Julgun qualified for the AQHA World Show and were Top Ten finishers in Junior Reining. In 2011, the two began showing in NRCHA events and were Fifth in the Limited Open Hackamore in the NRCHA World Show and were also the NRCHA Regional Reserve Champions. Abby and Miss McDreamy were 2014 NRHA Open Futurity Finalists as well as multiple NRHA Open Finalists at other major events!

In 2016 Abby went out on her own and started, Abby Mixon Performance Horses! Abby specializes in training reining, cow horses and coaching non-pros.
